Heat Pipe-based Emergency Cooling System for Nuclear Reactors and Spent Fuel Ponds

At the Japan Association of Heat Pipe Meeting, Waseda University on 9 July 2011, Masataka Mochizuki of the company Fujikura Ltd. in Tokyo, gave a most illuminating talk on the role heat pipes might play in emergency cooling systems for nuclear reactors and spent fuel storage. This was most topical, the conference taking place after the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant destruction. The overheads are given here:
